"Final Reflection"

1) Read through your blog from this semester. Recall all of the experiences you've had along the way -- the highs, the lows -- the fun moments, and the moments of drudgery, and even the moments of dread.
2) What sticks out to you as the most formative experience? The experience that you'll remember years later? What was your most joyous experience? What experience are you most proud of yourself for accomplishing?
The thing that sticks out the most with this class was when we had to ask the people who know you best. That may seem vain but on the contrary it was more about me seeing that all the hard work I put into life shows to the people around me. I was proud of myself for actually really getting the people who know me best. They know the bad and the good in me and to see them speak on the good gave me motivation.
3) At the beginning of the semester, I mentioned that I wanted each of you to develop an entrepreneurial mindset. And we repeated the mantra -- I am an entrepreneur. Now, at the end, do you see yourself as an entrepreneur? Do you think you have moved closer to developing an entrepreneurial mindset?
I do believe I have developed an even deeper entrepreneurial mindset because of all the thinking I had to do in this class
4) What is the one recommendation you would make to the students who are going to journey down this path in the future? What would you recommend they do to perform best in this course? What would you recommend they do to foster that mindset?

I would tell student to plan. This class has lots of assignments. Some are easy and take little to no effort and others take lots of effort. You need to plan out how you intend to get the grades you want in this class. They need to not think that this class that is only worth 100 points is a cake walk. I did more work in this class than any class I’ve had my entire college career.

Elevator Pitch 4

"Venture Concept No. 2,

Opportunity
•             What are the forces or changes in the environment creating this opportunity?
The changes that are creating this change is the subscription based disruption that is happening across many business models. Many people no longer pay a set price for a service or a software but now they pay for them on a subscription bases. People aren’t paying monthly fees for cable anymore but instead they buy a subscription to service that offers the same thing
•             How is this market defined geographically and demographically?
My geographic market is all across the world because every state/ country has some sort of cable or satellite system.
My demographics are people ages 23 to 40 because at age 23 you are probably not living with your parents and out on your own and understand what it feels like to pay bills. Not only are you on your own but you now have a career that doesn’t allow you to watch much TV. At 40 you probably have a whole family and a career and can only watch television on the weekends anyway so paying a monthly bill is a little over rated.
•             How are customers currently satisfying this need?  And how loyal are they to whatever they use now?
Customer currently are either paying for cable or investing in Hulu, Netflix, and Amazon prime
•             How big is this opportunity?
This opportunity is HUGE. It is bigger than Hulu and Netflix because it has the capability of cable as well just without the price point.
•             How long will the “window of opportunity” be open?
Not long at all. Netflix and Hulu kind of have this market cornered. Me getting into and presenting something new would only have me on top for a short amount of time. This is because they already have a customer base to upsell a product to. They could simply follow my business model and sell it to the customers they already have which means I wouldn’t be able to get those customers myself.

"Google Gold"

1)      A discussion of your general approach and strategy to search engine optimiation (SEO). What were some of the activities you did for each blog post to pursue SEO?
I must have missed this part of the blog writing because I put no efforts into SEO for my blog post
2)      What were your keywords? How did you select those keywords? Did you change or refine your keywords through the semester?
If I had known what to do I would have used keyword searches like,
Cable alternative
Cheaper cable
Show subscriptions
Better than Hulu
Hulu alternatives
Netflix alternative

I would have selected those words because I am sure people search for those topics because of the cable epidemic. I know it would have lead someone to my blog post

I did not change them because I never did them. I do feel like I may have added a few but I don’t think I would have changed them.

3)      How did you use social media to enhance your SEO efforts? What your your surprises or general impression of using social media to improve your blog's profile? Was social media generally receptive of your blog, or did it get ignored?
I did not use social media at all to enhance my SEO efforts. If I had used it I’m sure people would have wanted to know what the product was about
4)      What was your most "viral" post? In other words, which post obtained the most traffic? Why do you think?
None of my post got traffic except for my classmates because they were the only one who knew about my blog
5)      Finally, did you make it to the first page of Google results for your keywords? If not, what page of results did you make it to?

No I did not make the first page of Google

"Week 13 Reading Reflection" i

1)      What was the biggest surprise for you in the reading? In other words, what did you read that stood out the most as different from your expectations?
When we analyze the business they tell us not to compare it to larger businesses. I think that we should to a degree ad reading this kind of bothered me
2) Identify at least one part of the reading that was confusing to you.
When the author says that you should do forecast for the trend of business. It is true that trends change so foresting your business on trends can be dangerous, why not do it on a monthly basis?
3) If you were able to ask two questions to the author, what would you ask? Why?
1. When they say how much does it cost to buy the business, does that number stay the same throughout the entire sale or can it change?
2. If they need more money to buy the business, do they add on to the budget or do they walk away from the sell?
4) Was there anything you think the author was wrong about? Where do you disagree with what she or he said? How?

I can’t say that they are wrong but I slightly disagree. I think we should look at large companies when we analyze a company to see if the company we are buying into has the capability to make it to that place. I don’t think we should make the same type of decisions but I do believe that we should look into it.

"Celebrating Failure"

1)   Tell us about a time this past semester that you failed -- whether in this class, or outside of this class. Don't spare any details! It'd be even better if there was something you tried several times this semester, and failed each time.
For the last few years I have been working on opening a luxury hair boutique. It seems like every time I try to do it, something with my money happens and I can’t focus on the business because I have regular bills I have to pay. This time I am not going to put it off. I have gone to cosmetology school this year and I refuse to not use it! I think that me accomplishing this milestone has made me more dedicated to accomplish what I need to accomplish
2)   Tell us what you learned from it.
I have learned from this to never give up and change your plan a million times if you need to, just don’t change the goal.
3)   Reflect, in general, on what you think about failure. Failure is hard, isn't it? It's embarrassing, sure, but it also means that we have to change something about ourselves. Talk about how you handle failure (emotionally, behaviorally). Finally, talk about how this class has changed your perspective on failure -- are you more likely to take a risk now than you were four months ago?

Like everyone failure does not feel good. I hate to fail because I try so hard to succeed. I will say that when something fails for me I can’t wait until the entire plan fails so I can start a new one. I hate wasting time on something that didn’t work! I hate going over it and over it in my mind. I simply want to get the things that don’t work out of the way so that I can move on to the things that do work! When I fail I something I IMMEDIATELY start to think of my next plan of action. I don’t dwell on it, it makes me depressed. Instead I direct my attention to what needs to be done. I don’t think this class has helped me look at failure differently, directly. I do believe that indirectly having to write about it has helped me to understand failure more. I believe that my writing about how I don’t give us has given me motivation to constantly keep going!

Week 13 Exit strategy

1) Identify the exit strategy you plan to make. Do you intend to sell your business in the next 5 years for a large return? Do you intend to stay with the business for several decades and retire? Do you intend to protect the venture as a family business, and pass it down to your children?
In the next 5 years I intend to sell my business for a huge profit
2) Why have you selected this particular exit strategy?
I want to sell my business because this is not my passion. It is just a good idea that no one has thought of. It would be a good chance to make some money.
3) How do you think your exit strategy has influenced the other decisions you've made in your concept? For instance, has it influenced how you have identified an opportunity? Has it influenced your growth intentions or how you plan to acquire and use resources?

The exist has made me make sure that all the cable customers come to me so that way they are interested in buying my company.

"Venture Concept No. 1"

Opportunity:
Month after month millions of American over pay for cable. Most of these Americans are either full time workers or full time student. No matter the case the dreadful monthly bill of $100 or more for cable TV is at an all-time high! Like myself, many others agree; although we do not watch all 300 plus channels that I pay for on cable, the thought of not having cable for the few shows we can’t miss is repulsing. Many of my counter parts are tired of paying 100 plus dollars for 300 channels although they only watch 2 or 3 channels. Some of them have resulted to sources like Hulu, Netflix, and Amazon Prime to keep up with their shows and reduce their cable bills. Others and I on the other had have not. I still pay over 100 per month so that I can have the luxury of watching my shows as they come on. In my efforts to meet the needs of budget and the convenience of watching a series as it comes have come up with a plan. At this current moment none of my competitors is doing it but I know that all they need is a little research and they will be able to provide the service as well.
Innovation:
I have come up with a price plan of $15.99 a channel and $12.99 per series. The joy of this plan is that unlike my competitors (Hulu and Netflix) my customers can watch the shows as if they had cable. I have also added in a way for customers to record their shows like a DVR service from a cable company. What else could you ask for? My plan to make money is in the numbers. I will have more people buying this service than paying full price for cable. I will be the Redbox to Blockbuster.
Venture Concept
My customer will switch to my service because not only is my prices lower but what I’m offering is still effective. My competitors are good at movies but not being able to watch a television series when t=it comes on can be hard for people who are used to watching shows with their friends. My price point is going to be my selling point. The average working American may watch 4 shows total. The cost for that would be $51.96! Why wouldn’t you get rid of the cable bill for $190? I don’t need help with inventory but I will need customer service reps and over the phone IT people. I will start out with 20 of each in each city I launch until it is just too big.
My secret sauce will be my price point. Mu over head is so much smaller than the major companies that it would be too hard for them to lower their price to match mine.
The Next thing I would add is movies like NetFlix and Hulu, that way when their shows are not on and they just want to watch TV they still can

My next step would be to research how cable works. Find out how I can get my foot in the door to make this happen. In the next 5 years I would like to be the company that put cable out of business. As previously stated, I want to be the Redbox of Blockbuster.

"Week 11 Reading Reflection"

1)      What was the biggest surprise for you in the reading? In other words, what did you read that stood out the most as different from your expectations?
It was surprising to me but it did stick out because it was so well written. When they talk about making yourself an indispensable player. Many companies start because they saw another company do it but most of them only have price as a game changer. All phones do the same thing but it is a matter of your experience with that phone that makes you change your mind
2)      Identify at least one part of the reading that was confusing to you.
The definition of innovation it asked is confusing. It’s the way it is worded. I’ve done lots of research on being an innovative brand so I am aware of what it means but the way the author writes it is confusing.
3) If you were able to ask two questions to the author, what would you ask? Why?
If my company doesn’t really use technology like that to be innovative how do the 4 quadrants work for me?
How is a company being innovative if they are stuck on their routine? I thought it was supposed to be different but if all we are doing is constantly re working our strengths, nothing about that is innovative
4) Was there anything you think the author was wrong about? Where do you disagree with what she or he said? How?

I disagree with the fact that the routine innovation is good because you are not developing anything that people don’t already have. Like the iPhone for example. When new phones come out people always want to know what’s different. Majority of the time if the phone is basically the same look and same technology, and it’s not time foe an upgrade, people will wait. That leaves the people who missed the last upgrade to now get the new phone where as if it was really innovative then people who just got upgrades and people who missed the last upgrade will both get the new phone.

"Amazon Whisperer"

Describe the revenue drivers you currently include in your business concept for this class. Revenue drivers are the different ways you make money.

My revenue drivers are buying either a series or just buying a channel
Describe what kind of product offering you believe should be next. What's the next thing your customers want?
The next thing would be to be able to record the shows like a DVR
Describe how this "next" thing will enhance your existing product/service offering. Does it improve the user experience, does it increase customer switching costs, does it foster customer loyalty, etc.?
This will enhance my service because everyone can’t watch TV when shows come on but if they are able to watch it when they are ready too I think that will be beneficial. This does improve their experience. It helps them with their switching cost because some people wouldn’t switch without their DVR and if I have everything under one roof then it will be easier.
Go to Amazon and try to find a product that is similar to the one you want to offer next. Describe the product. Include a picture of the product.
http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/61ChBUy5f9L._SL1400_.jpgThis is a digital convert box to view and record FULL HD digital channels. Got to leave in the middle of your program? Just PUSH RECORD/PAUSE - Not going to be home to watch your favorite show? Just SCHEDULE IT for recording.

What are the customer reviews for the product? What, exactly, do customers not like about the product? What do they like about it?
Doris said:
It's really nice to see the tv guide on my tv screen. I also like how I can now record all my shows while I am at work. So glad I purchased this. I still pick up all the same channels as before, and the picture quality is great. At only $35 with shipping and handling, it's a steal!!
Loanny:
I just bought it for a old tv that I have in my kitchen and it really works, at first didn't work because it needs an antenna... I bought one of those cheap antenna in dollar store and work fantastic... I have a lot of local channel that I was paying in a basic service in a cable company. Very satisfied
Boofdoggydog
Ok, for the price this unit works to record a single broadcast at a time but not while you are watching something else. Also, the instructions seem to indicate you can select a show from the Chanel menu and have it record. You can't, you have to manually enter the Chanel, start and end times. I emailed the company and they had no explanation other than to tell me you did have to enter the information manually. I would not buy this particular unit again but it does work for some.
kerri a
I purchased this as a gift to record shows off an antenna. When the antenna is plugged directly into the digital TV we receive 41 channels, but when the same antenna is run through the box only 5 PBS channels and 2 religious channels came in. The signals are so badly degraded when run through the box that we lost all network stations. The manufacturer sent me 2 software upgrades to improve the signal strength. The first one had no effect. The second dropped the 2 religious channels and left us with only 5 PBS channels.
Describe what design/usability changes you'd make to the product.
I don’t want it to need an antenna. That’s so old. I would find a way to make it digital
Describe why you think this product would make a good addition to your current product/service offering.

As stated, it covers all basis of Cable Company. People can watch just the shows they want to, save money, and now they can record the shows too. It gets no better than that.

Week 10 Reading

1) What was the biggest surprise for you in the reading? In other words, what did you read that stood out the most as different from your expectations?

The Kendon Corporation stood out to me. I'm not sure where it derives from. I kept reading it to see if I missed where this was discussed to understand its name

Copyright | CENGAGE Learning | Entrepreneurship | bridgettdavis85@gmail.com | Printed from Chegg iOS App

2) Identify at least one part of the reading that was confusing to you.
The shares of a business had always been confusing to me

3) If you were able to ask two questions to the author, what would you ask? Why?
If there is more than one owner in a corporation can one of them only have all the shares or do all the owners have to have shares

Why is it called The Kendon Corporation? Where does the term come from

4) Was there anything you think the author was wrong about? Where do you disagree with what she or he said? How?

Considering that this is not my sector of business I have nothing that I think the author is wrong about. I don't have another opinion because everything I've read here has been everything I've ever read. Some info is all together new for me therefore I had no prior knowledge and can not dispute the contents of this article

Week 9 My Secret Sauce

Describe five ways in which you think you have human capital that is truly unique. What is it about you, exactly, that makes you different? Write this up in a detailed list.

1.       I never see problems only solutions. Every time something around me is falling apart instead of focusing on what is falling part I acknowledge it and then move on to how I’m going to fix it right away.
2.       I’m always searching for answers. I always want to know why something is or how something is. I read tons of books and I’m always researching in order to expand my mind a little. I always feel like there is more to learn
3.       I never give up. I can change the plan 1000 times but I never change the goal.
4.       I am an inspiration to everyone around me. I am the person that people call when they need a pep talk. They rely on me to make them feel better about whatever they are going through in their lives.
5.       I am very goal oriented. Every year I set new goals. Every year I focus on how much better I want to become as a person, I’m so focused on my goals that anything outside of my goals takes a back seat to my goals.
My Moms interview: My mom believes that I can see the whole picture and that I make decisions off of the whole picture, not just some of the fact. She believes I can see in people what they can’t see and I have the ability to pull it out of them.
My Dad believes that I am courageous and I think bog. He believes that I am an excellent communicator
My friend Jamie believes that I can adapt to any situation and communicate that I understand them. She believes that I allow people to be them while I am me
My Mari ( My best friends little sister) believes that I am very drive. She also believes that I am very independent and looks to me as a big sister
My bestie (Shantelle) believes that I never give up and that I am very consistent. She believes I’m always happy no matter what is going on.

Listening to what everyone had to say made me tear up. It is so weird hearing what people think of you and I can say I agree with them about everything they think. I think I would add in that I am a good communicator. Being good at communicating comes natural to me so I guess I just overlook it.

week 9 Reading reflection

What was the biggest surprise for you in the reading? In other words, what did you read that stood out the most as different from your expectations?
I like the fact that a patent is considered an intellectual property right. When I try and explain them to my clients I’m always confused because I actually don’t get them myself except for they are inventions. Saying that they are an intellectual property right make it easier to understand.
Identify at least one part of the reading that was confusing to you.
Limited Liability. I have NEVER understood it. In the text it is under the corporation part but I thought it was a part of the partnership part. I wouldn’t know because I never have understood it anyway.
If you were able to ask two questions to the author, what would you ask? Why
1.       So has all the information on LLC’s I’ve received been wrong? Is an LLC a corporation or not?
2.       Can one person own a corporation by themselves with no other person?
Was there anything you think the author was wrong about? Where do you disagree with what she or he said? How?

The only way I would know if something is wrong is to have prior knowledge of other facts. The fats I have on the topics discussed are the same as the ones presented.

"The Twenty Percent" Week 8

Does the entrepreneur adequately understand their customers' problems? Where are the differences? Why might these differences exist.

For the most part my entrepreneur does understand their customers problems because the only thing she sells is T-shirt and she is aware that people want other things.

She also knows how to market on social media which is where the her customers come from. The difference between the two might exist because she knows her product and the others do not

Week 8 Reading Reflections

1) What was the biggest surprise for you in the reading? In other words, what did you read that stood out the most as different from your expectations?

I have heard of social lending clubs before but thought they were a joke. When reading that they raised $500 million dollars in the past 5 years makes me want to look into their platform.

2) Identify at least one part of the reading that was confusing to you.
I don't understand how social lending is so popular when only 10% of the ventures get funded.

3) If you were able to ask two questions to the author, what would you ask? Why?
Why do people use it if the success rate is not that high?
How do you pay back the money to social lending companies? Is there one person who gives the money or is it a few people who give the money?

4) Was there anything you think the author was wrong about? Where do you disagree with what she or he said? How?

Considering that this is not my sector of business I have nothing that I think the author is wrong about. I don't have another opinion because everything I've read here has been everything I've ever read. Some info is all together new for me therefore I had no prior knowledge and can not dispute the contents of this article

Half-way Reflection"

1)      Tenaciousness is a skill. What are the behaviors that you have used (or developed) to keep up with the requirements of this course?
I had to remember to use (not develop because I already had them) my planning skills and time management skills to make sure I kept up with the due dates on all assignments. I also had to develop a no fear attitude to be able to walk up to people and do interviews because they were videoed.
2)      Tenaciousness is also about attitude. Talk about a moment or two when you felt like "giving up." What pulled you through? Do you feel like you've developed a tenacious attitude during the past two months? What experience or experiences most contributed to this?
When I first started the class I was so unorganized! I was missing assignments, I hadn’t brought my book and as a result I had an F in the class. I don’t make F’s I am usually an A student. At first I thought I just needed to drop the class and start over when I had more time. I later changed my thinking and just realized that we make time for the things that are important to us so no matter if I stopped now and started later I would have to still schedule out my time. I looked over my grade, calculated what I had missed, calculated extra credit, and realized that if I don’t miss another assignment, I can still make an A! I made that promise to myself and I have been doing just that.
3)      Three tips. What are three tips you would offer next semester's student about (1) fostering the skills that support tenacity and (2) developing the 'tenacious mindset’?
-          Don’t take the fact that assignments are only worth 1 or 2 points as a way to not push forward and do your assignments. Missing too many of these assignments will put you in a position to fall behind on your work
-          Learn to have a no fear attitude! Walking up to people and asking them to be on camera can be scaring but it only last for 30 seconds. Its ok to get a No

-          Take in all of the lessons and exercises. The exercises that we are doing are growing you in the areas of entrepreneurship

Week 7 free money

  • Where will you go? To a restaurant
  • What kind of people will you approach? Just random people waiting to be seated
  • What will you say to get the conversation started? Hi, can I give you a dollar
  • What is your plan for the conversation? I'm really just going to walk up and say, hey here is a dollar and see what they say. I think it will be funny
  • Out of five attempts, how many dollar bills do you think you will be able to give away. I think I can give away all 5....I'm very convincing!
What are your reflections on this exercise?
It was funny! People just wanted to know why I wanted to give them a dollar

Was giving away a dollar easier or harder than you imagined?
Yes! I was so scared to walk up to people and give them money but it was still fun
Were your predictions correct or incorrect?

 If they were incorrect, why?
Yes they were. It took me less than a minute to give the dollar away

What assumptions did you make about the people you planned to talk to, which were wrong?

I was worried that because they were at a bar that they would feel annoyed! They didn't, they were really receptive of what I was trying to do and thought it was funny too

"Week 7 Reading Reflection"

1)      What was the biggest surprise for you in the reading? In other words, what did you read that stood out the most as different from your expectations?
There really isn’t one thing that stuck out to me, I loved the entire article. Being a person that is already in business, whenever you see an article on marketing your ears perk up because you want to know how you can get more exposure to your business. I do like the idea of not only looking at age, race, and gender as your basis for who you market it.
2)      Identify at least one part of the reading that was confusing to you.
I pretty much get this entire article except for its relevance. If for 40 years this has been going on, it has not hurt the people doing it, why change it? I could see if it wasn’t working but it has been so I am confused as to why we have to change  anything

3) If you were able to ask two questions to the author, what would you ask? Why?
A. you say that we should not base our marketing strategy on age, gender, and race alone but on the values of a person. Why wouldn’t it be based on age and values because as we get older our values change?
B. Why do not feel that race should be a huge factor in the marketing idea? There are different things that are important to different people based on where they come from. This shapes their minds therefore wouldn’t we need to evaluate that?
4) Was there anything you think the author was wrong about? Where do you disagree with what she or he said? How?

I think that the article was great but the big companies he mentioned in the article are doing fine in their marketing strategies considering that they are still big companies. What he is proposing may be a better idea but it is not needed if things are working.

Elevator Pitch No. 2" Week 7

A reflection on the feedback you received from your last pitch.

What stood out to me most from my feedback was the fact that people off camera were trying to really help me figure out how to do it! They loved the idea and thought that there should really be something out here just like it.

What did you change, based on the feedback?

I didn't change anything because I got no negative feedback. It was like people were waiting for the camera to go off to drill me about how I thought of it and what it would take too get started. The topic brought about lots of conversation of the idea and other things in the world.

Sunday, February 14, 2016

"Week 6 Reading Reflection"

1)      What was the biggest surprise for you in the reading? In other words, what did you read that stood out the most as different from your expectations?
The thing that stood out to me the most was the substitute thing. I thought that he was going to talk about competitors as the substitute for another company but instead it was based on different ways to accomplish the same thing a better way. I actually like the way he made this look
2)      Identify at least one part of the reading that was confusing to you.
The idea that the salient force is not always the obvious. The word salient means most noticeable or important. I guess I don’t get why that force wouldn’t be obvious.
3)      If you were able to ask two questions to the author, what would you ask? Why?
-Is there a formula to determine what the best route to take in business i? Being that there is so much information here, it would be better if there was some sort of way to make the decision process easier.
-In order to better see the Salient force what should I do? This part of the article was very confusing to me and I know that a lot went into the article therefore me getting the understanding from him would be easier
4)      Was there anything you think the author was wrong about? Where do you disagree with what she or he said? How?

No I think that the article was well written that all points were covered. It was tons of information and a lot to digest in one sitting but other than that it was a good article.

"Idea Napkin No. 1" Week 6

1.       My name is Bridgett and I am VERY good at anything concerning problem solving and sells. I think the two go hand in hand because you usually sell to people who need to satisfy a problem! In the business world it is said to need at least 6 sources of income to live a comfortable life. My aspiration for this product is because I realize that cable bills are just too high. Also Cable is not my passion it, business is so it will still be a big part of my overall wellbeing.
2.       I am offering my customers to only pay for a series of shows they watch for $12.99 a show. If they want the whole channel it will be $15.99 per channel. This keeps down cable bills that are really too high for the amount of television most people watch.
3.       I want to target working class adults ages 23 to 45. The reason why is because this group works, pays their own bills, and doesn’t really have time for television. They understand why paying a cable bill for 300 plus channels is CRAZY!
4.       In this day and time EVERYONE wants to save money! No wants to throw it away and if you are only watching television for 2 hours a week, paying $100 plus a month is not smart ( yet most of us do it ). I am not taking anything from them with my business. They don’t have to resort to not watching TV at all, just paying for what you watch.
5.       There are other services out there like Hulu, Net flicks, and Amazon is on the rise. What makes me different is, you don’t have to wait for the show or the series to air, you can watch it as it comes on as if you had cable! Nobody else has that

I think the 5 elements go very well together. It makes your idea stronger because it forces you to look at what it is you are trying to accomplish. It makes you question just about every part of it to see if what you are doing is really going to work and if it is needed.

"Interviewing Customers No. 2" Week 5

1)      Fine tune your opportunity.
I believe that paying for 300 channels on cable is dumb! You may only watch 2 to 3 channels at most. If people were able to buy just the channels they watch or the series of a show they watch, it would make more sense. I would charge $12.99 per series and $15.99 per station.
2)      Fine tune the "who."
a.       The people I wanted to talk to were working Americans between 24 and 35 because these people mostly like have jobs and live on their own therefore the cost of cable directly affects them.
3)      Tweaking your interview questions.
a.       Do you work
b.      What do you do when you get off of work
c.       How much television do you watch
d.      How many channels on cable do you have
e.      How much is your cable bill
f.        For the channels/ time you watch television, do you think that your monthly cable bill is worth it?
g.       If you could pay to watch just a channel or a show series at the time that it airs for 12.99 would you do it?
4)      Go talk to customers!
a.       I talked to 5 working Americans ages 21 to 35 who either had cable or didn’t
5)      Tell us what you learned about the opportunity
a.       I learned that NO ONE is happy with the price of cable and that everybody said they would do it
6)      Tell us what you learned about interviewing customers.

a.       You have to always be ready for the answer to not be what you expected it to be. If you try to just go by a script it won’t seem natural

Advise for new Students: STAY ON TOP OF YOUR ASSIGNMENTS

"Week 5 Reading Reflection"

1) What was the biggest surprise for you in the reading? In other words, what did you read that stood out the most as different from your expectations?
Considering that I work with Start Ups daily I try and tell my customers that  building a brand ( not just starting a company) means to set yourself apart to where paying YOUR price does not bother a customer because you offer something no other competitor offers. The phrase in the book, "Pricing becomes less of a problem when the customer sees the product as superior to its competitors." Proves my point perfectly

2) Identify at least one part of the reading that was confusing to you.
profile analysis because it said it was a tool yet I don't see how to use it

3) If you were able to ask two questions to the author, what would you ask? Why?

The author says that the initial investment is usually too low, what about people who think that the initial investment is too high? Do you recommend they try and find what they need for cheaper.

In the profitability equation you have the denominator I terms of the year. What if one wanted to evaluate the progress in months? How would they go about doing so?

4) Was there anything you think the author was wrong about? Where do you disagree with what she or he said? How?
In the business world time is Calu aged differently. For example an over night success takes about 10 years when I read the following statement: "No product is instantaneously profitable, nor does its success endure indefinitely." I wondered if they really meant instantaneous or business instantaneous. A product being business instantaneous is VERY possible depending on the demand from the public

Elevator Pitch Week 5

My Elevator Pitch:

The Name of my company is Entertainment Spot

I think that most Americans waist money on cable. If you are a busy American you barely ever have time to watch television.

Out of the 300 channels you have, you may only watch 2 of them and they may last  about an hour

That means that for $100 you are only using your television for 8 hours a month! That is not worth $100.

I came up with a business where you only have to rent the shows you watch for the full season! They are available when they come on as they would be with cable! The price is only $14.95 per show and you actually get to keep them stored on your devise for 6 months.

Top 5 World Problems" "Week 4"

Problems of the world
1)      Police brutality: I think it is unfair that little is done to police when they kill someone. They get put on a PAID leave of absence. Not saying that all police killings are wrong but I believe it their punishments were harsher for killing people without weapons they wouldn't be so quick to pull the trigger.
2)      Laws for Felons: once a person. Has paid their dues to society they should be able to get a second chance. After a person is a felon they almost have no chances to have a normal life. There should be a time limit on it so that they can live their lives.
3)      Prison sentences for nonviolent crimes/ sexual crimes: I understand that people who do wrong need to be punished but there is no way a person who commits a sexual crime should be allowed to have equal or lesser time in jail than a person who may commit a drug crime or a white collar crime. I think that the courts should focus on reality and say who was hurt during the crime. That should be the measure of a sentence.
4)      Racism: Yes racism still exist. It is just quietly done and is not socially acceptable anymore. Many of the older generation is where we need change. Children are to taught hate just like they are taught to fear. If the older generation was willing to stand up and say it was wrong then it will stop
5)      Women getting paid less: Why is it that women at an not make as much as men? What makes us less than? I think that as long as a person has the necessary skills to have the job.... They should be allowed to do so. This can be fixed if they simply disclose what everyone is making and make it fair
I picked Police brutality as my first issue because too many people are getting killed while officers are getting off. I believe that EVERY life matters no matter what is said. If they are not trying to harm you, you should not be harming them.

Solutions to Problems
1)      There should be a time limit on it so that they can live their lives. If they have not gotten into any trouble over the course of 5 years they should have all rights restored and their record wiped clean
2)      I think that the courts should focus on reality and say who was hurt during the crime. That should be the measure of a sentence. I also believe that more people need help than a prison sentence. Perhaps they can try and help people instead of locking them away forever and when they get out leaving them no life
3)      Not saying that all police killings are wrong but I believe it their punishments were harsher for killing people without weapons they wouldn't be so quick to pull the trigger.
4)      If the older generation was willing to stand up and say it was wrong then it will stop
5)      This can be fixed if they simply disclose what everyone is making and make it fair

I picked there being a time limit for felons to be felons because it can be fixed! It is not hard for them to put some sort of law in place that looks at felons on a case by case situation and determine if a person has changed or if they are still the same.

week 3 worlds biggest problems

Prison sentences for non violent crimes/ sexual crimes: I understand that people who do wrong need to be punished but there is no way a person who commits a sexual crime should be allowed to have equal or lesser time in jail than a person who may commit a drug crime or a white collar crime. I think that the courts should focus on reality and say who was hurt during the crime. That should be the measure of a sentence.

Racism: Yes racism still exist. It is just quietly done and is not socially acceptable anymore. Many of the older generation is where we need change. Children are to taught hate just like they are taught to fear. If the older generation was willing to stand up and say it was wrong then it will stop

Taxes: Taxes need to be fair whether you have children or not. When I was 21 years old I was really struggling and just knew I could get help from my tax return. I was told that because I had no kids and not married that getting money back was not going to happen. I think the IRS should not make it easier for single mothers with kids than they make it for a single person

Police brutality: I think it is unfair that .ittle is done to police when they kill someone. They get put on a PAID leave of absence. Not saying that all police killings are wrong but I believe it their punishments were harsher for killing people with out weapons they wouldn't be so quick to pull the trigger.

Economy: the economy has still not gotten back on track. I believe a lot of that has to do with what the government spends their money on! It amazes me the amount of women who are able to work sit on welfare! It's really a shame that our country is in debt and if they would just look closely on what they spend money on then there wouldn't be so many issues

School course: I believe that after a person finished high school they should not have to take certain classes to get into their degree courses. If they wouldn't have to pay for those classes their tuition would be lower. I think that it's all a gimmick to get more money out of a student.

Immigration: I have no issue with immigrants coming to America because I understand them wanting a better life. I don't agree that they should have to pay taxes but not. E considered a citizen. I believe that if they pay taxes they should be allowed to be citizens as well

Grants for immigrants: I think it is unfair that there are grants for immigrants to open businesses that are not available to us as Americans. We are citizens yet we can't get as much help as them. I think they should make it equal for all people to get the grants

Laws for Felons: once a person. Has paid their de to to society they should be able to get a second chance. After a person is a felon they almost have no chances to have a normal life. There should be a time limit on it so that they can live their lives

Women getting paid less: Why is it that women at an not make as much as men? What makes us less than? I think that as long as a person has the necessary skills to have the job.... They should be allowed to do so. This can be fixed if they simply disclose what everyone is making and make it fair
