1) Tenaciousness is a skill. What are the
behaviors that you have used (or developed) to keep up with the requirements of
this course?
I had to remember to use (not develop because I already had
them) my planning skills and time management skills to make sure I kept up with
the due dates on all assignments. I also had to develop a no fear attitude to
be able to walk up to people and do interviews because they were videoed.
2) Tenaciousness is also about attitude. Talk
about a moment or two when you felt like "giving up." What pulled you
through? Do you feel like you've developed a tenacious attitude during the past
two months? What experience or experiences most contributed to this?
When I first started the class I was so unorganized! I was
missing assignments, I hadn’t brought my book and as a result I had an F in the
class. I don’t make F’s I am usually an A student. At first I thought I just
needed to drop the class and start over when I had more time. I later changed
my thinking and just realized that we make time for the things that are
important to us so no matter if I stopped now and started later I would have to
still schedule out my time. I looked over my grade, calculated what I had
missed, calculated extra credit, and realized that if I don’t miss another
assignment, I can still make an A! I made that promise to myself and I have
been doing just that.
3) Three tips. What are three tips you would
offer next semester's student about (1) fostering the skills that support
tenacity and (2) developing the 'tenacious mindset’?
-
Don’t take the fact that assignments are only
worth 1 or 2 points as a way to not push forward and do your assignments.
Missing too many of these assignments will put you in a position to fall behind
on your work
-
Learn to have a no fear attitude! Walking up to
people and asking them to be on camera can be scaring but it only last for 30
seconds. Its ok to get a No
-
Take in all of the lessons and exercises. The exercises
that we are doing are growing you in the areas of entrepreneurship
I definitely agree with you that I have developed my time management and planning skills throughout this semester with entrepreneurship. I also agree with you that I didn’t have my textbook in time to do some of the assignments, but I was able to have a 7 day trial on the textbook and finish that week’s assignment. I’m glad that you were able to persevere and complete each assigned task within this class. I also love all your tips! ReplyDeleteI like how you called it a "no fear attitude" when tackling assignments. This class is really interactive and although it is technically online it forces you to get out of your comfort zone in the real world in ways I could have never imagined. Also I COMPLETELY agree with the surprise I had coming into this course forgetting certain items required of me and resulting in a less than acceptable grade in accordance to my normal track. After emailing the teacher and receiving the proper support and understanding I needed, I felt motivated to get on track and stay that way throughout the course. Your three tips really nail it as far as how to succeed. Especially your first point about getting mislead by the point system and taking each task seriously. Check out my blog if you want to hear what I wrote about this process and again, good work. http://ent3003anneperry.blogspot.com.es/2016/02/half-way-reflection.html
